“I finally figured out that all stockpiles will eventually run out and that true preparedness comes from lessening one’s dependence on modern conveniences. ”
Greetings!
I once struggled with knowing how to properly prepare for an unforeseeable future. I tried stockpiling unhealthy (and quite frankly bad tasting) survival food. I’ve bought and tried all of the “tacticool” survival gadgets, but nothing seemed to inspire any confidence in my ability to survive.
Until… I read a NY Times Best Selling book titled “One Second After” where the nation’s power grid was attacked and the characters survived by reclaiming the skill sets of their pioneer forefathers. I finally figured out that all stockpiles will eventually run out and that true preparedness comes from lessening one’s dependence on modern conveniences.
Now, I have learned how to grow and preserve my own delicious and nutrient dense food, how to make my own medicine, how to identify and forage for wild edibles, and how to produce my own commodities such as wine, bread, moonshine, and tobacco.
Not only do I feel more confident in my ability to survive an EMP Attack (in my opinion the worst case SHTF scenario), but all of the self-reliant skills I’ve learned has made me less dependent on they ‘system’ for my daily needs. There is no price tag that you can put on the “EMPowerment” gained by knowing that you can provide for yourself!
